Cue scary “modern” music…

So while surfing G4TV, I ran across a blog post they did. It pretty much was this creepy video. Dial-Up extremely slowed down:

Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac

Image representing Microsoft as depicted in Cr...

Just installed Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac and I have to say I am super pleased with Microsoft’s Mac division, as they finally brought Outlook (my favorite desktop email client) to the Mac after years of waiting. I was getting used to Apple’s Mail/iCal/Address Book apps combo but it just wasn’t as powerful as I’d like it. Microsoft has out done themselves with this suite for the Mac. Next stop Microsoft Office 2010 for Windows, since I have Windows on my Mac.

Mac App Store — New Way To Shop?

App Store
Image via Wikipedia

Yesterday Apple released their well anticipated Mac App Store. For those of you who don’t know what that is I’ll be sure to supply a few links at the end of this post for which you can read up on this lovely piece of software.

Now like I mentioned before Apple released their well anticipated Mac App Store via software update. The Mac App Store runs and looks like the App Store that is available for the iPad. The benefits of this App Store, minus the connivence of not having to go a physical store and buy a physical disc (which doesn’t work for Apple’s still new MacBook Air) is the fact that it has further brought society as a whole into the digital age where software will be cheaper to download on the internet as opposed to going to a retail store and picking up the software. Also yesterday, the hacker community which don’t advocate piracy, released security flaws of which users that use Apple’s Mac App Store may be able to swindle developers out of money. As it stands Apple hasn’t released a fix for these few security flaws that have been found.

With Apple’s Mac App Store in full swing finally, only time will tell if Apple is on to something which has existed for Linux OS users. Note: Apple announced today that yesterday in 24 hours, the Mac App Store had 1 million downloads, which is impressive.

Ubuntu, 3rd Attempt (Successful)

So I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 on a HP Pavilion laptop, for those that don’t know that is a flavor of Linux. The only reason for me installing Ubuntu on this HP was because it is my little brother’s laptop, formerly mine about a year ago, and he got what I believed to be a hybrid-spyware/virus that wasn’t able to be uninstalled after a day of troubleshooting it. This so-called hybrid malware forced me to try a fresh factory install of Windows Vista OS, however, it kept on running into a snag and as such Windows Vista was never able to be re-installed on the laptop. To get the laptop up and running I grabbed the Ubuntu 10.10 disc I just so recently happen to created a few days ago. So I took a journey into getting Ubuntu up and running.
