Yes that’s correct there are rumors going around as of yesterday that Wade Phillips, the former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys who led the team to a 1-7 start for the season, might have a job with the Houston Texans as a defensive coordinator. If so that might be just what the Texans need to pick up their defensive game, because as it stands the Texans’ defense lets more points in and have no answers to effectively stop passing plays. As a Texans fan I am not too happy to know that Wade Phillips might be coming over to my team, but Wade Phillips was a defensive coordinator before he was a head coach and he was a defensive coordinator for about 20 years before finally becoming a head coach, so he has been coaching for a while now.
As of yesterday with the Texans ending their season on a win (6-10 overall), the Texans will be 11th in the draft pick in April, and hopefully Bum Phillips son, Wade Phillips, if he does come over to the Texans as defensive coordinator he might be able to add the missing piece to the Texans. As it stands now, the Texans have a decent QB, good receivers, running backs, linemen, and special teams. Their only problem isn’t so much the offense, even though I’m not a big fan of Matt Shaub who throws at least 2 interceptions a game like it’s clockwork, but their defense who have had no answer to any team’s passing plays. If the Houston Texans can solve their problem with defending against passing plays before next season the Texans will be able to make their first playoff appearance since the franchise starts almost 8 years ago.
